wonderful treatment at Lis Hosp. for homebirth transfer
כותרת:
Last week I delivered a baby born at home in Tel-Aviv. The birth was lovely and the Mom and baby fine. However, after waiting a half hour and the placenta still had not separated I decided that it would be wise to transfer to hospital. I knew that perhaps within the next half hour the placenta would come out easily by itself, but there was also the possibility of a big bleed, and that it would need removal in the operating room. I called an ambulance, and they promptly came and skillfully brought us to the closest hospital, Lis, near Ichilov in Tel-Aviv. The midwives were all very nice and friendly, and extrememly courteous and professional. There was no panic. I was allowed in and I gave a birth history. The baby was kept with parents and nursed while they waited patiently another 20 minutes. The placenta still did not separate and over an hour had passed, so she was taken to the operating room for a manual removal with general anesthesia. The doctor was very nice. . The nurse in recovery was also very nice and the care was excellent. Kol Hacavod to midwives Ofra Lavie and Orit Baron for the sensitive and skilled care. I hope that I won't have to transfer anyone again soon, but I feel confident that the policies are open and homebirth transfers are welcome. Such an open system promotes safety in homebirth.
