I have two choices: One just to say Mazal Tov and say to myself, well we are back to sqare one with 0 progress in the l9 years of my being a midwife and struggling to empower women to birth with dignity and safety. My other option is to be true to myself and continue my quest to educate and empower even one woman out there. So here goes. To me your birth is the perfect example that promotes the ideaology of the safety of homebirth verses the dangers of hospital routines and interventions that result in complications. Girl, if you think that your situation would have been so much worse at home, I think that if you had birthed all alone in a field by yourself, the results would probably have been safer! To me, an experienced midwife with thousands of births behind me, I can only say that from your story , your body was deprived of all its' power and healthy potential and you were exposed to dangerous procedures that caused most of the complications that you had. I don't only blame the system, but what hurts me most is that you gave up total control of your body and birth, and even think that they saved you and your baby. What a misconception. Read up about what is going on in the rest of the world, take a good childbirth class, and get educated about your body and birth so that at least next time you can work with your body and not against it. Knowledge is power, and as another wise woman once said " if you don't know your options, then you don't have any!"I don't know whether to yell or cry from your story. Ilana Shemesh
