bath OK after water breaks all over the world

Hi Anni, Wherever waterbirth is practiced women are allowed to get into the tub (assuming it is clean of course) even if their water has broken, as long as they are in active labor. In general it is best not to go into the tub before 5 cm. as this can space out the contractions and make the birth longer. All the research shows that there is no more infection with using the bath or tub if the water has broken. I know that in Israel the hospitals don't let you use the jacuzzis if your water has broken.. Maybe they are not sure that the bathtubs are clean enough between women. If ;you are in your own home, then it is your own germs that you are used to anyway. I would not advise sitting in the tub after water breaks if you are not in good hevy labor. Ilana,
