I really just don't get it. How is it that the majority of women in Israel don't think that it is necessary to meet their midwife first and insist on the right chemistry and the right attitude and a birth plan? Would you just go to any hair salon and get your hair cut and styled without having heard that the hairdresser is good? Do you let a cleaning lady clean your house without recommendations? Is birth so unimportant that you can afford to fall on a midwife like Ora? Why didn't you just take off those monitor straps and be free to move and insist that the midwife listen to the heartbeat frequently? Is that doctor G-d that she has the right to force you back in bed tied to the monitor? Every natural midwife knows that even with meconium in the water, if the heart tones are good then you don't have to be on the monitor all the time. Why did you let the midwife cut you? I'm assuming of course that you know the medical evidence of all the reasearch proving no benefit of episiotomy? Why didn't you get off the bed and birth in the position that you wanted to? Why is childbirth education failing to empower women? Why do women continue to go to hospitals and have these kind of births so often, when all the research shows improved outcomes in homebirths or out of hospital births for low-risk women with trained (women-friendly) midwives? What will it take to open your eyes? Everytime i hear a birth story like this I want to cry and shout. Please don't take this personally as I am trying to make a point for everyone so that no birthing women will have to endure what you did. We are all goddesses and deserve to be treated like one, and not humiliated. Enjoy your treasure, as you really earned it! Ilana
