Dear Sivan, Your birth really puzzled me at the end. I thought about it a long time and discussed it with some midwife friends. I think that the babies hands were in a strange position, maybe elbows out or somehow obstructed the entrance of the shoulders into the pelvis, thereby causing the head to be stuck at crowning. I remember that when the shoulders finally came out , I saw that the arms were twisted strangely. I needed to cut so that i could stick my fingers in and maneuver out the head. I needed more room. I don't think it had to do with your preventing yourself from pushing out the baby because it would hurt too much. You were pushing very well, and at that point not much pushing is necessary. The head was nearly out. We did try several positions, and it was just plain stuck. I really think it was mechanical and not emotional so don't be hard on yourself. You were wonderful, and you pushed very well, and you stretched well, but I think that the baby's arms didn't cooperate with you and me!! Take care! Fondly, Ilana
