Great Births in the shower, in the jacuzzi, in th clinic and in the bedroom!

I am still riding high on adrenalin. Such adventures! Births, births, births. Funny how they all decided to do it within 2 days. All short, and great. First, lovely clinic birth of a lactation consultant. That babycame out andd went straight for the breast with a perfect latch-on and just wouldn't stop fressing. She knew who she had business with and was a no-nonsense breastfeeder! As I was unwinding from the birth, and they were recuperating in the cilnic, I got another call from Jerusalem to hit the road. So I checked the clinic couple who were fine and waiting for the pediatrician to come and check the baby, and I packed my bags and was off to Jerusalem. It was a third birth and she warned me that it goes quick. Noparking in front of the house, so I leave my car in themiddle of the road (luckily it is 1AM and very quiet_ and Igrab a bag to assess the situation before looking for parking. Husband greets me and carries rest of bags and seems totally cool and I suppose that there is time and nothing major happening. Boy and I WRONG11 She is in the shower, and it's real quiet. Two friends are there helping, and she says quietly to me that she thinks its ready to come out. I check her in the shower,and lo and behold, The head is right there!!. She wants to stay in the shower, no problem (I'm getting wtbut it's July and hot). I hear a good strong heartbeat, I put on gloves, she pushes and the baby's head slides out easily, she squats for the shoulders, and this enormous kid comes out easily and she grabs him, gets dry and we all go to the bedroom and finish with placenta and nursing and marvelling at the size. I forgot my scale, but feels like 5 kilo but it can't be and is probably about 4300. Baby nurses non-stop. Older brother and sister wake up and greet their new brother and climb into bed with Mom. Great birth. Baby nurses like crazy, like he is starving and she has lots of colostrum. I'm home in bed by 5:30. Next day she goes to hospital for baby check and registration to Ein Karem, and everyone is shocked that the baby weighs 4,800. She is admonished for not being responsible and doing another ultrasound. If the estimate had been accurate she would have had an elective CS. Becasue of the fear of stuck sho;ulders (which is a realistic fear)She shows them that her glucose testing is all normal, and that her doctor was not expecting such a big baby (she was not overdue)and I didn't think it was more than4 kilo either . She was veryhappy to have had such a dream birth, no stitches, in the shower, surrounded by family and friends.
