הנה קטע מהתקציר: “Narrative Reconstruction” (Peri, 2002), was the treatment method in my work with Ruth. It is aimed at restructuring a full, comprehensive, organized and coherent narrative of the traumatic event. This is achieved through a detailed reconstruction of what happened, in an historical manner. Patients are asked to describe what they did, felt, or thought minute by minute through the entire traumatic event. They describe whatever they recall and the therapist writes it down and asks for more details whenever he feels it is needed. In subsequent sessions, the therapist goes over the descriptions adding whatever the patient recalls, such as facts, feelings, thoughts or associations to the narrative constructed. The end product of this work is a full story of the traumatic memory, which includes a full network of facts, emotions, cognitions and associations to this memory. It is predicted that a comprehensive, organized and coherent narrative worked through with this method may result in a memory that is woven and integrated into existing memory networks and thus more assimilated and less expected to show up without control.
