but I have been meeting alot of people who had same starting point like yours. the moment you let the doctor 'do' you anything , you are opennig yourself to a cascade of interventions. one intervention leads to another. listen to your intuition. if you aren't comfortable with any suggestion, here its your intuition warning you.
first of all, many times the doctor's weight estimate is wrong. babies tend to be much smaller or even much bigger than the estimate.
secondly, even if the baby is big, your body will not likely to make a baby bigger than you can birth.
your pelvic no matter how small is it, it not made of one piece it opens to allow babies to pass
If I was in your place, I would wait. after hearing all of these recommendations from THAT doctor, i would switch to another doctor who has more relaxed policy. so after waiting in patience your body and baby will become ready for birth. no matter how big the baby is. avoiding stripping is critical because it can risk premature water breaking. you can birth in your due date or even overdue. that is fine. trust your body and baby. when your labour is intense and you start feeling shaking that means birth is immenient and you can come in the hospital and have the baby fast enough that they will have no time to do interventions
if you are afraid to birth the baby at home accidently, you can go to the front of the hospital, walk around there, dont' come in. when you are starting to feel shaking and strong pressures like you need bathroom, you can enter the building and let them to catch the baby. you will still have enough time .
one more suggestion: don't get on your back. get on your fours or any other position comfortable because it will allow big baby (in case its so big) to birht safely and without inflicting trauma to your perinium. push only when you feel that strongest burning pushing urge
good luck
