Yeah, hurrah, she did it--great birth! כותרת:
I'm so thrilled! She got out of the jacuzzi and felt like pushing a little. She was 9. Then she wanted to lie down on her side. She first tried the birth stool, but didn't like it. Then her water broke. She began to push -gentle and easy, then stronger, then a few good sounds, and the baby's head was beginning to crown, she reaches down and touches it, and I tell her to breathe and only push very gently, and I'm trying my best to keep the head flexed so she won't tear like her other two births. I see lots of white scar tissue, but I'm oiling and putting on warm compresses and slowly the head is out, and there are no tears. There is a nice thick cord around the neck, loose enough for me to slip it over the head. Another contraction and she gives a big push for the shoulders, and I again am careful about the angle and that there shouldn't be any tears, and I ask her to beathe, and the baby is out and she reaches for him to be put on her stomach, and her husband is all excited and says it's a boy (they didn't know the sex before and have one girl and one boy), and he is nice and big--soon I'll weigh him but he looks like 3700 to me. She is so happy, no tears, and she says אזה כף, and I feel like jumping for joy. This is how all births should be!! She is happily nursing the baby now, after the placenta slipped out and hubby cut the cord. I'm giving them private "quality" time together.
As far as your question about how to transfer when fully dilated, best in ambulance because in this case there is not emergency and the heartbeat is fine, but it is a long walk in the corridors of the hospital always to get to the delivery room, and sometimes problems with parking the car. Also with contractions every 3 minutes you need to stop and everyone looks at you and gets in a panic. The ambulance is the easiest and quickest. I am so glad that I had this birth and that my spirits are renewed. Yes, I do take each birth to heart and very personally, as do all homebirth midwives I think. We celebrate the easy joyous births and feel frustrated and pained by the long and hard ones. We try our best, but not everything is in our control.
